So here's for my late update. Im
still packing to head off to school:( I. don't
wana go yet haha. It's been such a blessing this summer to have been able
to serve God with my closest brothers. Im still in awe from what God has
done this year. I didn't expect this trip to Hong Kong
to come through but next thing I knew we were already planning. Every
single step God was there. Training was really packed everyday. We
were such good friends but it was my first time actually working with
them. Everything worked out really well although we were really
drained. We woke up at 6am
everyday to run then paint for a few hours. After we would have our
lesson till the early afternnoon. The rest of the time was used to work
hard and practice our dances, dramas, worship, and prepare our
testimonies. It was hard and time was really packed but we managed.
Going into this trip I expected it to be like a stereotypical
international missions trip I guess. To go out and convert people.
Two of our main events were cancelled one camp and a street evangelism
event. We served with two churches in Hong Kong.
The first two people I met were Connie and Audrey. They both worked with
the youth at the Shatin Baptist
Church. They were such an
encouragment to work with:). Youth ministry life over there is packed
they're always on the run. They usually preach more then once during a
weekend and have so many things to organize. Praise God for giving them
so much strength to work so hard. They had such big hearts to serve God
it really touched me. Hong Kong life was really fast paced something it
was not use to. We also served at Patrick's church as well. The
kids there were really young but had such big hearts for God. It really
encouraged me and we had the chance to do street evangelism with them.
Just watching them go out with no fear encouraged me to do the same.
God's presence was really there I felt fearless even though my Cantonese stinks
and I got rejected:(. Even though we were suppose to end at a certain
time the kids wanted to keep going they didn't wana stop. We performed
our dramas and dances on the street to try and grab attention then share to
them what it was about. Hong
Kong lifestyle was very different from back at home. Lot of people came
from broken families and don’t have time for much except for work. There are not many lovey dovey kinda families
in Hong Kong.
This really affects lot of the children in Hong Kong
not getting much love from their family.
I recall one night it was really late so we took a taxi back. We were staying at the Hong Kong Baptist
Theological Seminary so when we told him that we were surprised he knew where
it was. We asked him if he believed in
Christ. He responded saying that he
believed in himself and that he didn’t have the time for religion. He works everyday to try and make a living
for himself. He shared with us that his
wife and 3 kids left him yrs ago. They
all got married and just left him. He
told us this is how some children are in Hong Kong. You raise them and they don’t care for you at
the end they just leave. He has no idea
where any of them are. Hong
Kong yea it’s a high tech city and very populated and there’s
jobs. Why would God need people in Hong
Kong? It’s cause a lot of
the people there haven’t experienced God’s love. God called us there to show the people there
love. It really hurt me hearing about
all the brokenness. God gave me a heart
for the people in Hong Kong. We performed at 3 seeker services and
attended a gospel camp. We performed our
dances, dramas, lead worship, and shared our testimonies at these events. It was awesome being able to see that we
touched so many hearts through these services.
By the way I really miss everyoneL It was so fun to be around the youth and have
a chance work with them and learn about their life as Christians in Hong
Kong. This summer has definitely
been a growing experience. Thanks for being
such great hosts and especially for Connie and Audrey for being such
encouraging sisters. I’ve been blessed
with such great brothers and its awesome how we finally got to serve
together. Please continue to pray for as
I head to college and learn to adjust to a new life as well as for the people
in Hong Kong.

| Chea it's been too long. Well im leaving tommorow for Hong Kong. We are going to be working with 13-18 yr olds. We will be running camps for inreach and outreach. Pray that we be able to get to know these children and be able to share to them. Training ended last week. We accomplished a lot in the time we had with our skits, dances, and our worship set. I know God will stretch me out during this trip please pray for us.
